39 — Al-Abbās ibn Hishām ibn Muhammad informed me, on the authority of his father, who said: A man from Hadramawt informed me that one of the kings said to his minister, “Admonish me.” He replied, “O King, this world is but a tale. If you can become one of its good tales, then do so.”
٣٩ - أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ هِشَامِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ، " أَنَّ بَعْضَ الْمُلُوكِ قَالَ لِوَزِيرٍ لَهُ: عِظْنِي، قَالَ: أَيُّهَا الْمَلِكُ إِنَّمَا الدُّنْيَا حَدِيثٌ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ تَكُونَ مِنْهَا حَدِيثًا حَسَنًا فَافْعَلْ "
