335 — Ibn Jamīl narrated to us: ʿAbd Allah informed us: ʿUbayd Allah ibn al-Shumayt informed us; he said: “A woman came to al-Hasan complaining of hardship. She said, ‘I am your neighbor.’ He asked, ‘How many houses lie between you and me?’ She replied, ‘Seven houses’—or she said, ‘Ten.’ He looked beneath his bedding and found six or seven dirhams. He gave them to her and said, ‘We nearly came to ruin.’”
