326 — ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us: Salām ibn Miskīn informed me: Shahr ibn Hawshab narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Yūsuf ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Salām, that a man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and said, “O Messenger of Allah, my neighbor has harmed me.” He said, “Be patient.” The man later returned and said, “O Messenger of Allah, my neighbor has harmed me.” He said, “Be patient.” He then returned to him once more and said, “O Messenger of Allah, my neighbor has harmed me.” He said, “Take your belongings and cast them into the street. Whenever anyone passes by, say, ‘My neighbor has harmed me,’ and he will thereby deserve to be cursed.” He then said, “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his guest, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent.”
