313 — Muhammad ibn al-Husayn related to me. He said: Zayd ibn al-Hubāb related to us, on the authority of Mandal, on the authority of Salmā, a freedwoman of Abū Ja‘far, who said:

“His brothers would visit him and would not leave his presence until he had served them fine food, clothed them in handsome garments, and given them dirhams.” She said, “I would tell him, ‘You ought to do less of this.’ He would reply, ‘O Salmā, what else can we hope for in this world besides friends and brothers?’”
