264 — Al-Hasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Mālik narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Sarh narrated to us, saying: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Huyayy ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed me, on the authority of Abū ʿAbd al-Rahmān al-Hubulī, who said:
“I was sitting with ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar ibn al-Khattāb—may Allah be pleased with them both—while a man from Yemen was circumambulating the House carrying his mother upon his shoulders. When he had completed his circumambulation of the House, he set her down on the ground. Ibn ʿUmar called him over and asked, ‘Who is this woman to you?’ He replied, ‘She is my mother.’ ʿAbd Allāh then said, ‘I wish that I had lived to see my mother and could have carried her in circumambulation as you have carried yours, even if I possessed nothing in this world but these two sandals.’”
