259 — Yaʿqūb ibn ʿUbayd narrated to me, saying: ʿAlī ibn ʿĀsim narrated to me, from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind, who said: I heard al-Shaʿbī say, “My parents left me no wealth with which I could honor them, nor did I acquire any wealth after their passing with which I could honor them. Rather, I patiently endure intense anger and suppress it, seeking thereby to fulfill my filial duty toward them.”
