Makarim al-AkhlaqIbn Abi al-Dunya

257 — ʿAlī ibn al-Jaʿd narrated to us: Zuhayr narrated to us, from Abū Ishāq, from ʿAmr ibn Maymūn, who said: “When Moses (peace be upon him) hastened to his Lord, Glorious and Exalted, he saw a man beneath the shade of the Throne and admired the station he had attained. He said, ‘This man must surely be held in honor by his Lord, Glorious and Exalted.’ Moses then asked his Lord, Glorious and Exalted, to tell him the man’s name, but He did not do so. Instead, He said, ‘I shall tell you three things about his deeds: he did not envy people for what Allah had granted them of His bounty, he did not disobey his parents, and he did not go about spreading malicious gossip.’”
