247 — Abdullāh ibn Abī Badr narrated to me: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us: Umar ibn Hafs al-Qurashī narrated to us: I heard Atā say, “One dirham that I give to a relative is dearer to me than a thousand that I give to someone in need.” He said: I asked, “Abū Muhammad, even if my relative is as wealthy as I am?” He replied, “Even if he is wealthier than you.”
٢٤٧ - حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَدْرٍ، قَالَ: نا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: نا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً يَقُولُ: " لَدِرْهَمٌ أُضَعُهُ فِي قَرَابَةٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَلْفٍ أَضَعُهَا فِي فَاقَةٍ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ، وَإِنْ كَانَ قَرَابَتِي مِثْلِي فِي الْغِنَى؟ قَالَ: «وَإِنْ كَانَ أَغْنَى مِنْكَ»
