246 — Alī ibn al-Jad narrated to us: Abū al-Ashhab informed me, from al-Hasan, who said: “While a man was performing circumambulation with his mother carried on his shoulders, he raised his head toward her and asked, ‘Mother, do you think I have repaid you?’ Ibn Umar was nearby and said, ‘You fool! No, by Allah—not even for a single labor pain.’”
