167 — Alī ibn al-Ja‘d narrated to us, saying: Ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Abū al-Za‘rā’, from a man who came to Alī (may Allah be pleased with him) and said, “Thieves broke in upon us and left us nothing; they even stripped my wife of both her anklets.”
Alī (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, “While you watched?”
“Yes,” he replied.
Alī said, “But as for Safiyya’s son, thieves would never have stripped his wife of both her anklets while he watched”—meaning al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him).
