161 — Yūsuf ibn Mūsā narrated to us, saying: Abd Allah ibn Dāwūd, Abū Usāma, and Abū Muāwiya narrated to us, from Hishām ibn Urwa, from his father, who said:
“Al-Zubayr—may Allah be pleased with him—was the first person to draw his sword in the cause of Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Then a rumor inspired by Satan spread: ‘The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—has been seized.’ The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—was in the upper part of Mecca, while al-Zubayr was in its lower part. Al-Zubayr set out with his sword, racing ahead of the people. When he met the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—he asked, ‘What is the matter, Zubayr?’ He replied, ‘I was told that you had been seized.’ The Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—then invoked blessings upon him and supplicated for him and his sword.”
