160 — Surayj ibn Yūnus narrated to me, saying: Wakī narrated to us, saying: Al-Amash narrated to us, from Shimr ibn Atiyya, from Abd Allah ibn Sinān al-Asadī, who said:
“I saw Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—at Siffīn, carrying the sword of the Messenger of Allah, Dhū al-Faqār. He would charge the enemy, and we would hold him back, but he would break away from us and charge them again, striking with his sword until he returned with it bent. He would then say, ‘Indeed, this sword is offering you its apology.’”
