157 — Muhammad ibn Jafar al-Warkānī narrated to us: Ayyūb ibn Jābir narrated to us, from Sadaqa ibn Saīd, from Musab ibn Shayba, from his father, who said:
“The Muslims engaged the enemy on the Day of Hunayn, and some were slain. Then Umar—may Allah be pleased with him—came forward holding the reins, while al-Abbās held the saddle blanket. Al-Abbās called out in a loud voice, ‘Where are the Emigrants? Where are the Companions of Surah al-Baqara? Here is the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace!’
“The people then came forward as the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, ‘Move her forward! I am the Prophet—this is no lie! I am the son of Abd al-Muttalib!’ The Muslims advanced and clashed swords. The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—then said, ‘Now the battle has grown fierce.’”
