156 — Suwayd ibn Saīd narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Marwān al-Basrī narrated to us, from Umāra ibn Abī Hafsa, from Ikrima, who said: Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—said:
“On the Day of Uhud, I looked for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among the slain but could not find him. I said, ‘By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would never flee. By Allah, I believe that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, became angry with us because of what we had done and raised him to Himself.’”
He continued, “So I broke the scabbard of my sword and charged the enemy. They opened a path for me, and there was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ among them.”
