155 — Alī ibn al-Jad narrated to us: Zuhayr narrated to us, from Abū Ishāq, who said: A man asked al-Barā, “Abū Umāra, did you flee on the Day of Hunayn?” He replied, “No, by Allah! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not flee. Rather, we encountered the host of Hawāzin, a company of archers scarcely any of whose arrows missed its mark. They loosed a volley at us and hardly missed, so those who were there turned toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was mounted on his white mule, while Abū Sufyān ibn al-Hārith ibn Abd al-Muttalib was leading it.” He continued, “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then dismounted and prayed for victory. He then declared:
‘I am the Prophet—this is no lie!
I am the son of Abd al-Muttalib!’
He then drew them up in a line.”
