15 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us; he said: Yahyā ibn Maīn narrated to me; he said: al-Haytham ibn Ubayd al-Sīd narrated to me, from his father, who said: I asked Zayd ibn Aslam, “A man performs a good deed, then hears someone speak well of him for it and is pleased. Does that invalidate any part of his deed?” He replied, “No. Who would wish to be spoken ill of? Even Abraham, the intimate friend of the Most Merciful, said, ‘And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations’ [al-Shu'arā': 84].”
