123 — Sufyān ibn Wakī and Muhammad ibn Abī Umar narrated to me. They said: Ibn Uyayna narrated to us from al-Mājishūn—though Ibn Abī Umar said, “from a man”—who said: Umar ibn Abd al-Azīz spoke to al-Walīd ibn Abd al-Malik about a matter, whereupon al-Walīd said to him, “You have lied.” Umar—may Allah have mercy on him—replied, “I have not lied since I learned that lying disgraces the one who does it.”
