117 — Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to us: Wakīʿ narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Murra, from Masrūq, from ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿAmr, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “There are four traits which, if found together in a person, make him a pure hypocrite. If he possesses one of them, he possesses a trait of hypocrisy until he abandons it: when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he speaks, he lies; when he disputes, he transgresses; and when he enters into a covenant, he betrays it.”
