93 – The judge Abū al-Qāsim informed us; Abū ʿAlī narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to me, saying that Jabalah ibn Yazīd ibn Yaḥyā ibn Khālid recited:
(long metre)
You sought to earn my thanks for the favour you bestowed on me;
yet you have been outdone, though I am truly grateful.
You used to shower me with abundant gifts out of pure intent,
but, having given so much, you yourself remain unthanked.
Thus I return the one whom others envy, and you return with a deed
whose first and last alike are counted among the highest of honours.
