Qada' al-Hawa'ijIbn Abi al-Dunya

89 – The judge Abū al-Qāsim informed us; Abū ʿAlī narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; al-Ḥusayn recited:

[metre: al-Baḥr al-Kāmil]
If you would store a kindness, seeking thanks for it,
then keep it with the people of lofty character.
And should you fall on hard times, guard your honor well;
hide your poverty beneath the cloak of contentment.
