20 – The judge Abū al-Qāsim informed us; Abū ʿAlī narrated to us; ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; ʿAbbād ibn Mūsā al-ʿUklī narrated to us; Hishām ibn Muḥammad narrated to us, from Khālid ibn Saʿīd al-Umayyī, from his father, who said:
Iyās ibn al-Ḥuṭayʾa met me and said, “Abū ʿUthmān, by Allah, al-Ḥuṭayʾa has died, and in the household purse there are thirty thousand—money your father, Saʿīd ibn al-ʿĀṣ, had given to my father. So the words of praise we spoke about you remain, but what you bestowed upon us is gone.”
