111 – The judge Abu al-Qasim informed us; Abu ʿAli narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Bahili reported to me, from his uncle, who said: Salm ibn Qutaybah declared: “Do not take your need to a liar, for he will put it out of reach when it is near, and pretend to bring it close when it is far. Nor to a man who already owes people a meal, for he will use your request as a shield for his own. And never to a fool, for though he wishes to help you, he ends up harming you.”
