95 — ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us: Abū Bakr ibn Abī ʿAwn al-Madīnī narrated to me: I heard Ibrāhīm ibn Shikla ibn al-Mahdī say:

“Do you know why I singled out Abū Bakr’s descendants to receive something from my two-thirds share? Every Companion of Allah’s Messenger, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is known to have left something for his dependants, except Abū Bakr al-Siddīq. He chose instead to devote all his wealth to Allah and His Messenger. I therefore wished to recompense Abū Bakr’s descendants from my wealth rather than those more closely related to me.”
