74 — Abd Allāh narrated to us: My father narrated to me: Abd al-Razzāq narrated to us: Ma‘mar informed us, from Ayyūb, from Ibn Sīrīn, from ‘Uqba ibn Aws, from Abd Allāh ibn ‘Amr, who said:

“On the day we fought at al-Yarmūk, I found in some books: ‘Abū Bakr, the Truthful—you have named him correctly. ‘Umar al-Fārūq (the distinguisher between truth and falsehood), an iron fortress—you have named him correctly. ‘Uthmān, the possessor of the two lights, has been granted a double share of mercy because he will be killed—you have named him correctly.’”

He said: “Then there will be the governor of the Holy Land and his son.”

‘Uqba said: “I said to Ibn al-‘Ās: ‘Name them both, just as you named these others.’ He replied: ‘Mu‘āwiya and his son.’”
