71 — Abd Allāh narrated to us: My father narrated to me: Zakariyyā ibn ‘Adī narrated to us: ‘Ubayd Allāh—meaning Ibn ‘Amr—informed us, from Zayd ibn Abī Unaysa, from ‘Amr ibn Murra, from Abd Allāh ibn al-Hārith al-Najrānī, who said: Jundub narrated to me that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, five days before his death:
“I have had brothers and friends among you, but I declare before Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, that I take none of you as an intimate friend. Were I to take an intimate friend from my community, I would take Abū Bakr. My Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, has taken me as an intimate friend, just as He took my forefather Abraham as an intimate friend. Beware! Those before you used to take the graves of their prophets and righteous people as places of worship. Do not take a grave as a place of worship; I forbid you to do so.”
