329 — ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us: ‘Ubayd Allāh ibn Muhammad al-Qurashī, Abū ‘Abd al-Rahmān, narrated to me: Abū Mu‘āwiyah narrated to us: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Murrah, from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad, from ‘Abd Allāh, who said:
“May Allah have mercy on ‘Umar. After he suffered that stab wound, he saw a young man who had let his waist-wrapper hang low. He said, ‘Young man, trim your hair and raise your waist-wrapper, for that will make your garment last longer and show greater mindfulness of your Lord, Mighty and Majestic.’”
