311 — ‘Abdullāh narrated to us: Abū Kurayb al-Hamdānī, Muhammad ibn al-‘Alā’, narrated to us: Yūnus ibn Bukayr narrated to us, from al-Nadr Abū ‘Umar, from ‘Ikrima, from Ibn ‘Abbās, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“O Allah, strengthen Islam through Abū Jahl ibn Hishām or ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb.”
The next morning, ‘Umar went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and embraced Islam that day.
٣١١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ قثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنِ النَّضْرِ أَبِي عُمَرَ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ: «اللَّهُمَّ أَعِزَّ الْإِسْلَامَ بِأَبِي جَهْلِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، أَوْ بِعُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ» ، فَأَصْبَحَ عُمَرُ فَغَدَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَسْلَمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ.
