32 - ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Mu‘āwiyah—that is, Ibn ‘Amr—narrated to us, saying: Abū Ishāq—that is, al-Fazārī—narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from Abū Sālih, from Abū Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Whoever gives one item—or he said, two items—from his wealth—I believe he said, ‘in Allah’s cause’—the keepers of Paradise will call to him: ‘O Muslim, here is goodness; come to it!’”
Abū Bakr said: “This is a man who will suffer no loss.”
The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, then said: “No wealth has ever benefited me except the wealth of Abū Bakr.”
He said: Abū Bakr then wept and said: “Has Allah benefited me through anyone but you? Has Allah raised my standing through anyone but you?”
