298 — ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me: Umm ‘Umar, a daughter of Hassān ibn Zayd—my father said, “A truthful elderly woman”—narrated to us, saying: Sa‘īd ibn Yahyā ibn Qays ibn ‘Abs narrated to me, from his father, who said:

It reached me that Hafsa, the daughter of ‘Umar, said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: “If you fall ill, you put Abū Bakr forward.”

He replied: “It is not I who put him forward; rather, Allah has put him forward.”
