296 — ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Ibn Numayr—that is, ‘Abdullāh—narrated to us, from Sharīk, from ‘Urwa ibn ‘Abdullāh ibn Qushayr, from Abū Ja‘far, who said: “Abū Bakr the Truthful said.”

I asked: “The Truthful?”

He replied: “Yes, the Truthful.” He then related a report in which he mentioned ‘Umar, saying: “‘Umar, the Commander of the Faithful.”

I asked: “The Commander of the Faithful?”

He replied: “Yes, the Commander of the Faithful.”
