290 — ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: Ismā‘īl Abū Ma‘mar narrated to us, saying: Hushaym narrated to us, from Abū Ishāq al-Kūfī, from al-Sha‘bī, from al-Hārith, from ‘Alī, who said:

I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when Abū Bakr and ‘Umar approached. He said, “These two are the leaders of the middle-aged men among the people of Paradise, from the earlier and later generations. Do not tell them, O ‘Alī.”
