287 – ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us: Ibrāhīm ibn Sa‘īd al-Tabarī al-Jawharī told me: Sa‘īd ibn Muhammad al-Warrāq narrated to us: Fudayl ibn Ghazwān narrated to us: Abū al-Mughīrah al-Dhuhlī narrated to us, saying: Fulfulah told me: I heard al-Hasan ibn ‘Alī say:
“I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ—meaning in a dream—clinging to the Throne. Then I saw Abū Bakr holding the Messenger of Allah ﷺ by the waist. Then I saw ‘Umar holding Abū Bakr by the waist. Then I saw ‘Uthmān holding ‘Umar by the waist. Then I saw blood pouring down from heaven to earth.”
Al-Hasan related this account in the presence of some Shī‘ah, who asked, “Did you not see ‘Alī?”
He replied, “There was no one I would have loved more than ‘Alī to see holding the Messenger of Allah by the waist. But it was only a dream.”
