Fadail al-Sahabah li-Ahmad ibn HanbalAhmad Ibn Hanbal

276 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: Muʿāwiyah ibn Hishām narrated to us, saying: Sufyān narrated to us, from Sālim ibn Abī Hafsah, who said: A report from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mulayl reached me, so I went to him in the morning and found him attending a funeral. A man then narrated to me, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Mulayl, who said: I heard ʿAlī say: “Every prophet was granted seven noble men, and your Prophet was granted fourteen noble men, among them Abū Bakr, ʿUmar, Ibn Masʿūd, and ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir.”
