27 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Muʿāwiya ibn ʿAmr narrated to us, saying: Zāʾida narrated to us, from al-Aʿmash, from Abū Sālih, who traced the report back to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said:
“Whoever gives a pair of things from his possessions, all the keepers of Paradise will call to him: ‘O servant of Allah, O Muslim, here is goodness; come to it!’”
Abū Bakr said, “O Messenger of Allah, such a man has nothing to lose: if he leaves one gate, he can enter through another.”
The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, patted his shoulder with his hand, then said, “By Allah, I do indeed hope that you will be among them. By Allah, no wealth has ever benefited me as much as the wealth of Abū Bakr.”
He said: Abū Bakr wept, then said, “Was it not through you that Allah guided me and raised my standing?”
