257 – ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far and Hajjāj narrated to us, both saying: Shu‘bah narrated to us, from al-Hurr ibn al-Sayyāh, from ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn al-Akhnas, who reported that al-Mughīrah ibn Shu‘bah delivered an address and spoke disparagingly of so-and-so. He said: Sa‘īd ibn Zayd stood up and said:

“I bear witness that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘The Messenger of Allah will be in Paradise, Abū Bakr will be in Paradise, ‘Umar will be in Paradise, ‘Uthmān will be in Paradise, ‘Alī will be in Paradise, Talhah will be in Paradise, al-Zubayr will be in Paradise, ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn ‘Awf will be in Paradise, and Sa‘d will be in Paradise.’ And if I wished, I could name the tenth.”

He then related the same account.

٢٥٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، وَحَجَّاجٌ، قَالَا: نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْحُرِّ بْنِ الصَّيَّاحِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَخْنَسِ، أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ خَطَبَ فَنَالَ مِنْ فُلَانٍ، قَالَ: فَقَامَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ وَقَالَ: أَشْهَدُ أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: «رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعُمَرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعُثْمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعَلِيٌّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَطَلْحَةُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَالزُّبَيْرُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَسَعْدٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ» ، وَلَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أُسَمِّيَ الْعَاشِرَ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ.
