242 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: Shujāʿ ibn al-Walīd Abū Badr narrated to us, saying: Khalaf ibn Hawshab related, from Abū Ishāq, from ʿAbd Khayr, from ʿAlī, who said:

“The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came first, Abū Bakr came second, and ʿUmar came third. Then turmoil struck us—or turmoil befell us. Allah pardons whomever He wills.”
