241 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: ʿAbd al-Rahmān and Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Abū Hāshim al-Qāsim ibn Kathīr, from Qays al-Khārifī, who said: I heard ʿAlī say:

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came first, Abū Bakr came second, and ʿUmar came third. Then turmoil struck us—or befell us—and what Allah willed came to pass.” Or: “Turmoil befell us; Allah pardons whomever He wills.”
