220 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: Sālih ibn Mālik Abū ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: ʿAbd al-Aʿlā ibn Abī al-Musāwir narrated to us, saying: Ziyād ibn ʿIlāqah narrated to us, from Qutbah ibn Mālik, from ʿArfajah al-Ashjaʿī, who said:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in the dawn prayer, then turned towards us and said, “Our Companions were weighed last night. Abū Bakr was weighed and proved weightier; then ʿUmar was weighed and proved weightier; then ʿUthmān was weighed and proved lighter, though he is a righteous man—may Allah be pleased with him.”
