219 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abī Bakr al-Muqaddamī narrated to me, saying: Abū Maʿshar al-Barā’, Yūsuf ibn Yazīd, narrated to us, saying: Ibrāhīm ibn ʿUmar ibn Abān narrated to us, saying: Abū ʿUbaydah ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Zamʿah narrated to me, from his mother, from Umm Salamah, who reported:
One day, while the Prophet ﷺ was with his Companions, he said, “Last night, a righteous man had a dream.” His Companions said: We said to ourselves, “This is the Messenger of Allah.”
He said, “I saw a bucket descend from heaven. The Messenger of Allah drank ten draughts from it, then passed it to Abū Bakr, who drank two and a half draughts from it. He then passed it to ʿUmar, who drank ten and a half draughts from it. He then passed it to ʿUthmān, who drank twelve and a half draughts from it. Then the bucket was raised to heaven.”
