Fadail al-Sahabah li-Ahmad ibn HanbalAhmad Ibn Hanbal

23 - ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: ʿAffān narrated to us, saying: Hammām narrated to us, saying: Thābit informed us, from Anas, that Abū Bakr told him:

I said to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, while he was in the cave—on another occasion he said, “while we were in the cave”—“If one of them were to look down at his feet, he would see us beneath them.”

He said: The Prophet replied, “O Abū Bakr, what do you think of two whose third is Allah?”
