208 - ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, saying: ‘Abd al-Razzāq narrated to us, saying: Ma‘mar informed us, from Qatāda, from Abū ‘Uthmān al-Nahdī, from Abū Mūsā al-Ash‘arī, who said:
I was with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him—I think he said, “in a garden”—when a man came and offered greetings. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Go, admit him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise.” I went, and there was Abū Bakr. I said, “Enter, and receive glad tidings of Paradise.” He kept praising Allah until he sat down.
Then another man came, and he said, “Admit him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise.” I went, and there was ‘Umar. I said, “Enter, and receive glad tidings of Paradise.” He kept praising Allah until he sat down.
Then another man came and offered greetings. He said, “Go, admit him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise, with a severe trial to endure.” I went, and there was ‘Uthmān. I said, “Enter, and receive glad tidings of Paradise, with a severe trial to endure.” He kept saying, “O Allah, grant me patience,” until he sat down.

209 - Yahyā ibn Sa‘īd narrated to us, from ‘Uthmān ibn Ghiyāth, Abū ‘Uthmān, from Abū Mūsā, who reported that he was with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in a garden. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had a stick in his hand with which he was tapping between the water and the mud. A man came and asked for the gate to be opened. He said, “Open it for him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise.” Abū Mūsā said: There was Abū Bakr. I opened the gate for him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise.
Then a man came asking for the gate to be opened. He said, “Open it for him, and give him glad tidings of Paradise.” There was ‘Umar. I opened the gate for him and gave him glad tidings of Paradise. He then related the rest of the hadith.
