190 - ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me: Husayn ibn ‘Alī and Mu‘āwiyah ibn ‘Amr narrated to us, both saying: Zā’idah narrated to us, saying: ‘Āsim informed us, from Zirr, from ‘Abdullāh, who said:
When the Messenger of Allah passed away, the Ansār said: “Let there be a leader from among us and a leader from among you.”
‘Umar came and said: “O Ansār, do you not know that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed Abū Bakr to lead the people in prayer?”
They replied: “Yes.”
He said: “Then which of you would willingly take precedence over Abū Bakr?”
The Ansār said: “We seek refuge in Allah from taking precedence over Abū Bakr.”
١٩٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، وَمُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، قَالَا: نا زَائِدَةُ قَالَ: أنا عَاصِمٌ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ: لَمَّا قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ: مِنَّا أَمِيرٌ وَمِنْكُمْ أَمِيرٌ، فَأَتَى عُمَرُ فَقَالَ: يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ، أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ أَمَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَنَّ يَؤُمَّ النَّاسَ؟ قَالُوا: بَلَى، قَالَ: فَأَيُّكُمْ تَطِيبُ نَفْسُهُ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ؟ قَالَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ: نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ أَنْ نَتَقَدَّمَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ.
