189 - ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me: Hushaym narrated to us, saying: Husayn informed us, from ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn Abī Laylā, who said:
‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb delivered a sermon, praising and extolling Allah, then said: “Indeed, the best of this community after the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is Abū Bakr. Whoever says otherwise after this address of mine is a slanderer and shall bear the consequences of slander.”
١٨٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قثنا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ: أنا حُصَيْنٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَالَ: خَطَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَلَا إِنَّ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، فَمَنْ قَالَ سِوَى ذَلِكَ بَعْدَ مَقَامِي هَذَا فَهُوَ مُفْتَرٍ، عَلَيْهِ مَا عَلَى الْمُفْتَرِي.
