184 - ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me: Yūsuf ibn Ya‘qūb ibn Abī Salamah al-Mājishūn, Abū Salamah, narrated to us, from his father, that Abū Hurayrah said: Abū al-Qāsim, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“A woman entered the Fire because of a cat—male or female—which she had tied up. She neither fed it nor let it loose to eat the small creatures of the earth, until it died. Abū Bakr and ‘Umar bore witness to this, though neither Abū Bakr nor ‘Umar was there.

“While a man was riding a cow, it turned to him and said, ‘I was not created for this; I was created only for ploughing.’ Abū Bakr and ‘Umar bear witness to this, though neither Abū Bakr nor ‘Umar was there.

“While a man was among his sheep, a wolf came and seized one of them. The man caught up with it and rescued the sheep from it. The wolf turned to him and said, ‘You there! You have rescued it from me today, but who will look after it on the day of the wild beast, when it has no shepherd but me?’ Abū Bakr and ‘Umar bear witness to this, though neither Abū Bakr nor ‘Umar was there.”
