178 - ‘Abdullāh narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me: Hāshim ibn al-Qāsim narrated to us: Abū ‘Aqīl—that is, ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Aqīl al-Thaqafī—narrated to us: Kathīr Abū Ismā‘īl narrated to us, from Safwān ibn Qabīsah al-Ahmasī, from Abū Sarīhah, an elder of Ahmas, who said:

I heard ‘Alī say, “Indeed, Abū Bakr was tenderhearted, his heart ever turning to Allah. And indeed, ‘Umar was sincere toward Allah, and Allah dealt graciously with him.”
