172 - ‘Abdullāh narrated to us: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Shaybah narrated to me: ‘Abdullāh ibn Numayr narrated to us: Sufyān al-Thawrī narrated to us, saying: Abū al-Jahhāf—who was well regarded—informed us, on the authority of Abū al-Bakhtarī, who said: ‘Alī said:

“It is simply a matter of love and hatred, approval and displeasure.”
