150 - ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us: Hārūn ibn Sufyān narrated to me: Mu‘āwiyah—meaning Ibn ‘Amr—narrated to us: Zā’idah narrated to us, from Hishām, from al-Hasan, who said: It reached me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“I saw myself drawing water for black sheep, and pale-colored sheep mingled with them. I interpreted the black sheep as the Arabs, and the pale-colored sheep as their non-Arab brethren who mingled with them.”
He said: “While I was thus engaged, Abū Bakr came and took the bucket. He drew one or two bucketfuls, but he was weak—by Allah, He forgives him. Then ‘Umar came and took the bucket, which became a large bucket. He filled the watering troughs and quenched the thirst of the animals coming to drink. I have never seen a master work as ‘Umar did.”
