Fadail al-Sahabah li-Ahmad ibn HanbalAhmad Ibn Hanbal

126 — ‘Abdullāh narrated to us: Salama ibn Shabīb Abū ‘Abd al-Rahmān al-Naysābūrī narrated to us, saying: I heard ‘Abd al-Razzāq say:

“By Allah, my heart has never felt at ease with preferring ‘Alī over Abū Bakr and ‘Umar. May Allah’s mercy be upon Abū Bakr and ‘Umar; may Allah’s mercy be upon ‘Uthmān; and may Allah’s mercy be upon ‘Alī. Whoever does not love them is not a believer. Indeed, the most dependable of our deeds is our love for them all. May Allah be pleased with them all, leave us answerable to none of them for any wrong, and gather us among them and in their company. Amen, Lord of the worlds.”
