121 — ‘Abd Allāh narrated to us, saying: Hārūn ibn Sufyān narrated to me, saying: Mu‘āwiyah—that is, Ibn ‘Amr—narrated to us, saying: Zā’idah narrated to us, saying: Hishām ibn ‘Urwah narrated to us, from ‘Urwah, who said:

Some people came to ‘Umar and said, “We have never seen a caliph better than you.” ‘Umar struck them and said, “Do you say this to me when you have seen Abū Bakr?”
