Dhamm al-MuskirIbn Abi al-Dunya

Ahmad informed us; Abu Bakr narrated to us,

75 – Ibrahim ibn ʿAbd Allah related to me, saying: Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Thaqafi related to me, saying: Abu ʿAmr al-Murri—who was governor over the people of ʿAbbadan under Rabiʿ ibn Sabih—told me:

“A man from among us was martyred at Baranda. The next morning Abu Khushaynah, one of the senior companions of al-Hasan, came to us and said, ‘People, last night I saw your companion in a dream, and he appeared wrapped in a green robe. I asked him, “What has Allah done with you?” He answered, “What do you think He does with the martyrs? He forgave me and admitted me into Paradise.”

“When he turned away I noticed the marks of lashes on his back, so I said, ‘Stay where you are!’ He said to me, ‘Abu Khushaynah, did you see them?’ I replied, ‘Yes.’ He then said, ‘Abu Khushaynah, go and tell my father—who was still alive that day—“Woe to you, miserable man! That dādhi we used to drink, you and I—do not drink it. For I, though I was killed in the path of Allah, was not spared being flogged with the prescribed punishment for it.”’”
